Little bit deeper - what is autism?

Life-long neurodevelopmental diversity. Our brain works differently and therefore we develop in a unique way. We perceive, we feel, we enjoy, we get angry, we learn,... DIFFERENTLY.

Diversity. Even though with the terms "autist", "autism spectrum" most people, at least whom I have met, see a child/person who is, in short, retarded, we are diverse, different. Just like neurotypicals. Yes, we have common traits, but we are all unique. The general symbol/logo of PAS is a rainbow puzzle. It's not just by chance. The rainbow represents diversity, puzzle logic. That's what we have in common. Not much, right?

A unique way of establishing contacts. Something from my life again. I do not prefer the so-called small-talk (what's the weather like, who goes out with whom, who did what when, gossiping,...) and not by gradually building a relationship. I will only make contact with someone who has similar (preferably the same) interests, who is passionate about what I am. So if I meet a person who is interested in martial arts, IT, Nordic ancient civilizations (Vikings) and gaming, I will be a good companion. Chatty maybe, but certainly not boring. Do you want to talk about the fact that someone who is already 30 does not want a child and prefers to live for work? You have to go elsewhere with that, I'm not interested in it at all, and actually I completely understand the person. Just for example. But I'm also interested in a person who has something to give me - if I'm interested and I judge that it's rewarding for me.

A unique set of social preferences. Most people with ASD undoubtedly communicate in a different way than a neurotypical. Many of us prefer direct and in-depth communication about what interests us or enjoy a lot of time for ourselves. And that's not wrong. It's just the way it is.
